Belleville, MO  (KTRS)  A man is dead after being shot by police in Belleville.

Investigators say Belleville police were called at just before 10 p.m. Thursday to an apartment complex in the West Pheasantwood Court subdivision for a report of an intoxicated man with a firearm causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, the man was standing in the doorway of an apartment.

Investigators say that’s when the suspect ran and a foot chase ensued.  Gunfire was exhanged between two of the three officers and the suspect. He was hit in the gunfire. He was transported to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The suspect’s name hasn’t been released. All three officers have been placed on administrative leave.
