( KTRS ) A man has been charged in connection to a fatal crash that killed 2 people from Farmington.
Police report the incident took place last Thursday afternoon on hwy 72, when a pick up truck driven by 49 yr old Paul Patton collided with a motorcycle carrying 58 yr old Richard Augustine and 60 yr old Debra Smith.
Patton told a state trooper that he lost control of the vehicle after a dog jumped in his lap, he also said he had mixed drinks and beer earlier in the day and had taken 3-1/2 Percocet pills for back pain.
Patton is suspected of being drunk at the time of the crash. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter. He is suspected of being drunk in the crash.
