ST. LOUIS (AP) – A St. Louis man has been charged in a machete attack in the city’s Gravois Park neighborhood last month.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1HsG7Fo ) that a grand jury indicted Ryan S. Lawrence Tuesday on charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
Police say Lawrence slashed a 31-year-old woman with a machete as she was going into the back door of her St. Louis home at about 5:50 a.m. on Oct. 12. He cut her several times on her arms, hands and head with a “machete-style knife.”
The victim told detectives she did not know Lawrence. Court records say the woman identified the attacker in a lineup.
Lawrence has been jailed on a $100,000 cash-only bail. Court documents say he was on probation for a 2013 attempted burglary conviction.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Lawrence has an attorney.
