Alton, IL  (KTRS)  The Major Case Squad is investigating the fatal shooting of a child in the metro-east.

Investigators say the 11-year-old boy was outside of the Alton Housing Complex late yesterday afternoon when he was shot.  He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Initial leads indicate a red car was traveling on Paul Avenue when a shooter fired several rounds from the car in the direction of several people standing and walking by the local rec center, according to police.  The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
