( KTRS ) A Madison County Jury has convicted an Edwardsville man on a Class X Felony DUI charge following a two-day trial.
58 yr old Carl E. Bettorf was found guilty of “Aggravated Driving Under the Influence”, a Class X felony, stemming from an incident in November 2009.
He has 5 previous DUI convicitons. After years of delay and a jury trial the final Class X Felony charge means Bettorf will have do some time in prison. A Class X felony is just short of first degree murder, the most serious felony offense on the books in Illinois. It has a mandatory minimum sentence of 6-30 years in prison.
Sentencing has not yet been set but is expected within the next few weeks..
