St. Louis, MO (KTRS) An overnight house fire in north St. Louis is to blame for claiming the life of an infant and injuring four others.
Firefighters responded to the burning home along the 5100 block of Cates around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Six adults and three children were in the home when the fire broke out.
Authorities say the infant was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the injured are children. One is in critical condition and the other is in serious condition. Two adults are also hospitalized in stable condition.
Fire investigators say it’s believed that the home had working smoke detectors.
There’s no word on what may have caused the fire.
