( KTRS ) Residents in Illinois, legally allowed to do so, purchased $2.9 million worth of medical marijuana products last month.

Officials say June purchases were around $2.5 million, adding that sales have gradually climbed since the pilot program began in November. Illinois now has nearly 89 hundred qualified medical marijuana patients and 40 registered dispensaries.

July’s collections bring the total retail sales of marijuana, in Illinois, to just over $16 million.

Recently, PTSD and other ailments were added to a list of conditions approved – to use medical marijuana for treatment.
