( KTRS ) Police in a central Illinois are searching for the suspect in a weekend shooting of a police officer.
Saturday night around 10:45 p.m., a Mahomet Police Officer conducted a traffic stop involving 35 yr old Dracy “Clint” Pendleton. Authorities haven’t stated why, but during the traffic stop the officer and Pendleton exchanged gunfire before Pendleton fled the scene.
The officer was shot in the arm and it is believed Pendleton was also injured, but it is unknown to what degree. He is believed to be armed with an AK-47.
The Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for Pendleton for the charge of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer. He has possibly stolen a 2007 white GMC pick-up truck bearing Illinois registration number 165- 533B. Anyone with information is asked to call 217-384-TIPS.
