(KTRS) – Many companies and LGBT-rights activists are celebrating the defeat of a proposal that would have protected some businesses if they denied services for same-sex weddings.

Three Republicans joined Democrats on a House Committee to kill SJR 39. The resolution already passed out of the Senate and if it had passed the House, it would have gone to voters for final approval.

There is a chance the bill could be revived in the Legislature, but there are just three weeks left before lawmakers head home.
