St. Louis, MO (KTRS) The heavy rainfall is causing challenges throughout the state.
More than 7 inches of rain drenched parts of Missouri late Sunday into early Monday. This resulted in flooding, thousands of power outages, and evacuations.
In De Soto, residents in about thirty homes had to be evacuated early Monday morning when heavy rain caused flash flooding. One of those residents, a woman went into labor as the floodwaters surrounded her home. An EMS crew was able to rescue her by boat.
Several roadways had to be closed in the St. Louis area due to flooding. This included 141 at I-44 in Valley Park, Hanley Road north of Manchester in Maplewood, and Aubuchon Road between Missouri Bottom and Teson roads in Hazelwood.
The National Weather Service is calling for heavy rainfall to continue through Tuesday.
