ST. LOUIS (AP) – A girl has left the hospital in good health less than a week after nearly drowning in a swimming pool at a St. Louis Park.
Fire Capt. Garon Mosby tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1Xoy3RQ ) that the 6-year-old girl was unresponsive when another swimmer found her in the water at Marquette Park around 4:30 p.m. June 7.
Lifeguards had already pulled the girl from the pool and started CPR when paramedics arrived and shocked her heart at the scene. They were able to get back a heartbeat, but she was taken to the hospital without being able to breathe on her own.
Authorities haven’t released the girl’s name. But the other swimmer who found the girl has been identified as 9-year-old Neisha Thurmon.
Both girls will be honored at the Board of Aldermen in City Hall on Friday.
