St. Louis, MO (KTRS) Flooding is threatening the St. Louis area with the heavy rainfall this weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for much of the St. Louis area. The Meramec River is forecast to rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and crest near 40.0 feet by Wednesday morning. The Missouri River at St. Charles is forecast to rise above flood stage by early Monday morning and continue to rise to near 31.1 feet by Thursday morning. The NWS reports that additional rises are possible thereafter. The Mississippi River at St. Louis is forecast to rise above flood stage by late Monday morning and crest near 35.5 feet by Thursday morning.
Officials with St. Charles County Emergency Management are monitoring the situation, ready to close roads and sandbag if necessary. Meanwhile, residents have been sandbagging since Friday in anticipation of flooding.
