ST. LOUIS (KTRS) A verdict has yet to come down from the judge who’s deciding the fate of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley, who is accused of fatally shooting Anthony Lamar Smith during a police chase back in 2011.
Albert Watkins is the attorney for Smith’s five-year-old son and the son’s mother. He says they are asking everyone to remain peaceful when the verdict is delivered. Watkins says they want Smith’s legacy to be peaceful and not violent.
A bench trial was held a few weeks ago in the first degree murder trial of Stockley,
Activists have said there will be civil unrest if Stockley is acquitted. Barricades now surround two court buildings and police headquarters.
