St. Louis, MO (KTRS) The charge of the Ferguson Commission is coming to an end.
The 19th and the final meeting of the Commission was held Monday night. The meeting focused on the next steps of implementing the calls to action. The plan calls for the work to continue through the partnership of Focus St. Louis and former Ferguson Commission members and staff. This transition is entitled “Forward Through Ferguson Design”
Yemi Akande-Bartsch, president and C-E-O of Focus St. Louis, says this effort is going to take community involvement. “We can not do it alone. There’s an old African adage that it takes a village and in this instance as Focus that attempts to take on many of the issues idenitfied in the calls to action, it’s going to take the whole village for this to be successful.”
Co-Chair Rich McClure agrees: “It’s been our hope and prayer that what we have said during these many months will provide a pathway for the region which must come together and take ownership of this work, across racial line, across cultural lines all must come together as they did around the Ferguson Commission’s work in order for us to make true progress.”
The Ferguson Commission is set to disband on December 31st.
