BRIDGETON, Mo. (AP) – The U.S. Department of Labor is holding a two-day outreach event later this month in Bridgeton for former nuclear weapons workers, families and survivors.

Department representatives will staff the event slated for March 29 and 30 at the International Union of Operating Engineers Hall in Bridgeton, which is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area.

The department’s Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation will have staff on hand to provide information about medical benefits available under a federal compensation program.

The compensation and medical benefits program has paid $193 million to 1,789 claimants in Missouri and $12.2 billion nationwide.

Presentations begin at 9 a.m. both days, with staff availability to follow.
