Valley Park, MO (KTRS) Residents in parts of Valley Park are under a mandatory evacuation order as a result of the major flooding.
Residents and businesses located in the Levee-protected area have until noon Tuesday to evacuate. At that time the National Guard will be stationed at both entrances to town and will not allow anyone to come back into the levee protected area, until evacuation order is lifted.
“We want to stress — there is no indication the levee protecting the city has been compromised or breached in any way. The U.S. Corps of Engineers and City officials have been continuously inspecting the levee and there are no signs of damage or breach.” said Mayor Michael Pennise in a Facebook post.
Valley Park Assistant Fire Chief Rolland Piotraschke urges residents to heed this order, “I understand that when someone has worked very hard to protect what they have, but people need to understand that things can be replaced, people can’t.”
“It’s better to do it, get over with and if the water doesn’t get in there, then thank God.” added Piotraschke.
Valley Park is also offering evacuation assistance to anyone in need due to age, health or otherwise. You can contact the Valley Park Fire District at 636-225-4260 or Valley Park City Hall at 636-225-5171 for assistance.
