(KTRS) – Governor elect Eric Grietens is calling for an emergency alert system after two police officers in Missouri were shot over the weekend.

The proposed “Blue Alert” system would work in a similar fashiong to Amber and Silver alerts–which help to find missing children and senior citizens. A Blue Alert would send information across the state describing an offender suspected of shooting an officer.

Both of the officers shot in Missouri are expected to recover.
