EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) – A 30-year-old East St. Louis man has been sentenced to six decades in prison for killing another man who identified him as the shooter.
Eric Hill was found guilty in October of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Marcus Harris. Prosecutors sought a 55-year sentence and Hill’s defense attorney asked for 45 years, but a St. Clair County judge sentenced him Monday to 60 years in prison. Hill must serve 100 percent of his sentence before he’s eligible for release.
The Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/1TWxzxH ) reports that Harris was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Washington Park on July 13, 2014.
Police said Harris was able to call 911 and name Hill as his killer before he died.
