( KTRS ) According to a video on Facebook, the distemper outbreak at Stray Rescue of St. Louis is not over.
Thursday afternoon, in a Facebook video, Stray Rescue Owner Randy Grim said that the shelter had lost 2 more dogs to distemper, bringing the total number of deaths to 23. He added that further testing shows that 51 dogs living at the shelter have the sickness.
Cats and humans cannot get distemper.
Stray Rescue is currently taking part in a study with researchers at the University of Wisconsin to learn how distemper is spread and controlled.
