(KTRS) – The Drug Enforcement Agency is taking lead on a new strategy to combat heroin and prescription drug abuse.
The new program, called the 360 Strategy combines resources from local law enforcement and other agencies that work to prevent drug abuse.
The strategy is a three-pronged approach. First piece is law-enforcement that will be led by the DEA coordinating efforts to target drug traffickers. The second part will encourage drug makers and pharmacists to raise awareness about prescription drug abuse. The final piece will center around community outreach after DEA raids.
The 360 Strategy began late last year in Pittsburgh.
