JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit seeking public records in Missouri on behalf of the research director for the group Show-Me Cannabis.
The News Tribune reports that the lawsuit was filed Wednesday on behalf of Aaron Malin against Cole County prosecutor Mark Richardson.
Malin asked Richardson’s office in April for any communication between the Cole County prosecutor’s office and a drug task force that covers Cole, Callaway and Boone counties.
He later sought records of indictments issued since July 2014, regarding the sale of narcotics in public housing, and any open records inquiries Richardson’s office had received since Jan. 1.
All requests were denied.
Richardson said Thursday that if Malin gets a court order, then he can get the records.
