Authorities are investigating after a child was shot in the jaw.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports the shooting happened late Wednesday night near St. Louis Avenue and Goodfellow Boulevard.

The child, a young girl between the ages of 8-10, was taken to the hospital by her parents and is said to be in stable condition.
