( KTRS ) A man charged with felony child abuse will now face upgraded charges after his 9 week old victim died.
19 yr old Robert Burnette is currently in jail, accused of sticking his fingers down the newborn child’s throat to stop his crying. The baby was also thrown on a bed and shaken.
He now faces a “Abuse of a Child Resulting in Death” charge, which carry’s a maximum punishment of 30 years to life in prison. The 9 week old boy died Monday after a family court judge ordered that he be removed from life-support.
Burnette remains in custody on a $500,000 cash only bond.
The child’s mother – 20-year-old Megan Hendricks – who, police say stood by and watched, is also jailed on a $250,000 bond.
