CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) – Carbondale police are investigating the weekend deaths of two 18-year-olds who were hit by a car.
The pedestrians were identified Monday as Gavin Flynn and Ryan Reed of Carbondale. They were struck about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night on a stretch of Illinois Route 13 that’s also known as East Main Street.
Reed died at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Flynn was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale on Sunday.
The 48-year-old male driver of the 2015 Audi that struck the two teens was not injured. Police have not released his identity pending a continuing investigation.
