EDWARDSVILLE, ILL (KTRS) The Major Case Squad says a suspect has been charged with reckless homicide in the death of man whose body was found lying by the side of a road near Madison, Illinois, last week. Authorities say 24-year-old Terrance Smith of Cahokia has also been charged with aggravated fleeing and trying to elude a police officer in the death of 27-year-old Nicholas Roberts of Madison, Illinois. According to the Major Case Squad, Roberts and Smith had left a Broklyn nightclub for home when they pulled over by a police officer. They say before the officer could approach the vehicle, Smith took off and led police on a high speed chase before police had to end the pursuit because of what they called hazardous conditions. Their investigation later showed Roberts fell from the vehicle and struck his head. He later died at a St. Louis area hospital.
