( KTRS ) Brentwood City officials are trying to get permit to expand sections of Deer Creek/Black Creek within the city limits.
The city announced on it web site that officials have asked to Army Corp of Engineers for a permit to dredge the area where 30 properties were hit by the flooding this week. Damage is estimated to cost more than $660,000.
The statement points out that Deer Creek crosses multiple jurisdictions, and the $35 million cost estimate is too much for a single city. Brentwood is also applying for funding from the State Emergency Management Agency and FEMA. This past December, 26 properties, were impacted by flooding. In the spring, 11 properties were damaged.
The City of Brentwood has an FMA (Flood Mitigation Assistance) application that has been turned into FEMA, but they know if it’s been awarded until September.
