BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) – A Belleville woman who pleaded guilty to lying about a terminal ovarian cancer diagnosis returns to court for sentencing on fraud charges.

Thirty-two-year-old Alissa Jackson was a married mother of five when she was charged in June 2014 with bilking thousands of dollars in donations, free food and a donated minivan from hundreds of people on behalf of “Alissa’s Army.”

She’s due in St. Clair County Circuit Court on Tuesday afternoon after a December guilty plea to two counts of theft of more than $500 by deception.

Jackson could be sentenced to probation. But St. Clair State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly has said he plans to seek the maximum five-year prison sentence.
