( KTRS ) Authorities are investigating after a body was found among the wreckage of a house fire in Collinsville, IL. Around 2 am Sunday morning the Collinsville 911 center received a call for a house fire.

Police arrived on the scene and say the two story home already had flames shooting out from the southeast corner. Officials report the police officer’s knocked and yelled at the front door with no response,they were able to get into the residence and were met with a wall of black smoke and heat. The Collinsville Fire department arrived on the scene and started fighting the fire.

The body of 86 yr old Grover Johnson was found in the basement.

The point of origin for this fire has not been able to be determined at this time. Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn says an autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon to determine the official cause of death.
