St. Louis County, MO (KTRS) More contamination from Coldwater Creek is being reported.
The Army Corps of Engineers has discovered three more residential properties and four commercial properties near the creek with radioactive contamination. This comes on the heels of the corps finding contamination on other residential property near the creek over the summer.
Nuclear processing waste stored at sites near Lambert Airport during the early decades of the Cold War leached into Coldwater Creek. Several people in the area have been diagnosed with cancer, raising concerns about a link to the contamination.
Meanwhile, the Army Corps of Engineers will provide an update on Coldwater Creek during a public meeting Wednesday night. The meeting will be held at the James J. Eagan Civic Center in Florissant from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
