( KTRS ) An Ameren Illinois substation is at risk of being flooded as water continue to rise in Randolph County.
Ameren Illinois spokesman Brain Bretsch, says that a substation could be compromised if a levee protecting the nearby town of Prairie du Rocher is breakched.
Bretsch say Ameren is setting up a mobile substation on higher ground in town and should a breach occur, the company can de-energize the town’s substation and switch to the mobile substation to avoid any long-term outages.
Ameren Illinois has three mobile substations in the Metro-East area and 17 overall throughout its service territory.
