Voters in St. Ann said no to a sales tax increase to pay for road improvements, but other communities were in favor of increasing taxes.

Overland voters said yes to doubling their property taxes to help the city’s police pension fund.

Greendale and Moline Acres residents approved a use tax which means they’ll pay taxes on all out of state purchases they make over 2-thousand dollars. That’s to make up for lost city sales taxes due to on-line purchases.

Bel-Ridge voters agreed to doubling the city’s commercial property tax for various city services.

Maplewood elected Jenny Schmidt to the City Council, and Onva Burke won the run-off to become a village trustee in Uplands Park.

Republican candidates won seats previously held by republicans in the only two state legislative elections to maintain the GOP majority in Jefferson City.

And , Like St. Louis, Kansas City residents voted to increase the city’s minimum wage to 10 dollars an hour. City leaders say that’ll lead to a legal challenge to a recent state ban against cities setting minimum wages higher than the state approved 7.70 per hour.
