ST. LOUIS (KTRS) 26 dogs from southwestern Missouri are in the care of the Humane Society today after the society’s animal cruelty task force rescued them from a hoarding situation. Police in Seneca, Missouri, had called the Humane Society of Missouri last week. The task force rescued the dogs yesterday and brought them to their St. Louis headquarters Tuesday morning. The task force’s director, Mike Perkins, says the dogs suffer from neglect and filthy living conditions but the Humane Society will work on helping them recover. “We’re in this for the long haul, and we’re going to take as long it takes to get these dogs ready for adoption, ” Perkins said.

Perkins says the Humane Society will send a report to local authorities who will decide whether charges will be filed against the former owners.
