COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTRS) In a case of mistaken identity that almost turned fatal, three Metro east men are in custody today and charged in an assault on a family that was coming home after an evening out.

St. Clair Sheriff’s Deputies say the family had just come home in the State Park area of Collinsville July 8th when a white pickup drove past them and shot at them several times. The bullets just missed the children who were in the back seat. Three suspects pulled the father out and attacked him in the street. They then drove off after they realized they’d attacked the wrong person.

Arrested and charged in the incident are 31-year-old Ryan Miniex of Caseyville, 35-year-old Alex Molina of Collinsville and 24-year-old Salvador Hernandez of Collinsville.
