ST. LOUIS (KTRS) The heat is causing problems for the local infrastructure as water main breaks have become more common. A water main break is causing problems for several businesses and commercial buildings in downtown St. Louis.
Water gushed into the street Friday after a 36-inch main broke near 13th Street and Convention Plaza. Some residents and businesses were likely to see decreased water pressure.
And the break was even affecting temperatures inside some office buildings because it caused a drop in water pressure in cooling towers, affecting air conditioning.
The central branch of the St. Louis Public Library closed, as did the St. Patrick Center, which serves homeless residents. The center was accepting donations of sandwiches and water.
