The St. Louis-area child who was killed on an Alabama beach when he was hit by debris as Tropical Storm Cindy churned the Gulf of Mexico has been identified.

Authorities say the 10-year-old victim was Nolan McCabe. The boy was on vacation with his family when he was killed Wednesday morning on a beach at Fort Morgan, Alabama. The Sheriff’s Office said that Nolan was hit by a log that was picked up and driven by a large wave.

Nolan would have been going into fifth grade at Wohlwend Elementary School in the Mehlville School District.
