Marilyn Maye was a mainstay on The Steve Allen Show and The Tonight Show, holding the record as “most frequently heard singer” on that show – a favorite of Johnny’s – with 76 appearances. She was also named by Ella Fitzgerald as “the greatest white female singer in the world” – not a bad distinction.
