St. Louis, MO (KTRS) The second 2016 presidential debate will be held this weekend on the campus of Washington University.
This will mark the fifth time the university has hosted a presidential debate since 1992. Back then, the university had one week to transform the gymnasium of the Field House into a red-carpeted debate hall for the first nationally televised three-candidate presidential debate .
For Sunday’s debate you will will see spangled banners, blooming flowers and Brookings Hall bathed in red, white and blue lights.
Preparation for this debate also included installing 50,ooo feet of cable in the debate hall, 700 plus wired network connections in the media filing center, and 60,000 square feet of red carpet.
As far as your debate weekend menu on Wash U’s campus, this includes 950 pounds of roast turkey, 285 loaves of bread, and five thousand sandwiches.
It’s expected that 80 million viewers will tune in for this historic event.
