ST. LOUIS (AP) — Police say a St. Louis city marshal shot a man after intervening in a violent dispute.
Maj. Rochelle Jones says the shooting happened late Friday at City Hall. Jones says the man was shot three times in the leg and his injuries aren’t life-threatening. He apparently didn’t have a firearm.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the marshal was leaving work when she saw the man pull the woman out of vehicle and begin beating her.
Jones says when the marshal approached the pair, the man came toward her aggressively. The marshal fired when the man broke the arm off a gate to a parking lot and continued walking toward her.
The woman in the vehicle fled.
Marshals, who are members of the police department, provide security at city-owned buildings.
