(KTRS) – St. Charles County Prosecutor Tim Lohmar says he will announce charges connected to the fatal shooting at Pam Hupp’s house August 16. Hupp was arrested by police earlier today and a formal announcement of charges is set for 3 p.m.
One week ago, Hupp called police to report that she shot an intruder in her home. The victim was Louis Gumpenberger. His friends and family told police that he was involved in a traffic accident that left him with nerve damage and he now walked with a severe limp. One long-time friend told the Post-Dispatch that Gumpenberger could barely stand because of his injury.
Hupp was a key witness in the murder trial of Russ Faria. He was convicted of killing his wife Betsy, but later exonerated after new evidence came to light. Days before Betsy’s murder, her life insurance policy was signed over to Hupp–she ended up getting $150,000 in proceeds from the insurance.
