Wentzville, MO  (KTRS)  Construction is underway on Wentzville’s first new city hall in forty years.

A groundbreaking ceremony was Tuesday afternoon for the $9.3-million facility. The current city hall on Pearce Boulevard is one of nine buildings that houses city staff. The new facility being build on Schroeder Creek Boulevard will house all departments.

City Administrator David Gibson says the building will serve as a one stop shop.

“The rest of our departments are scattered throughout the city in various buildings, so this is an opportunity to bring everybody under one roof and next door to the existing police station, which  creates a campus in the middle of the city. It’s going to be much more efficient from an operation standpoint.” said Gibson.

Mayor Nick Guccione  calls this a historic moment for Wentzville.”I’ve been on the board for over ten years and one of my goals when I became mayor was to get a city hall built.”

“It’s been a long process and I commend my staff for all of the hard work they’ve done and the architects and the board working together to make this happen.” added Guccione.

The project is being funded through city reserves. Construction is expected to be completed in September of 2017.
