MTV turned 35 this week, and we wanted to take a look back at the first day, so here’s an interview with Mark Goodman, one of the first of five VJs (with JJ, Nina, Alan Hunter, and of course, Martha Quinn). What was it like starting out, who picked the music, what was he doing before they plucked him from (relative) obscurity, and made music and TV history.
