COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) – Graduate students at the University of Missouri will receive subsidized health insurance premiums for another year.

The Columbia Daily Tribune (bit.ly/1ZL5GiE) reports that interim Chancellor Hank Foley made the announcement Tuesday.

Health insurance became an issue after the university gave graduate assistants 24-hour notice in August that they would no longer receive health insurance subsidies because of an IRS interpretation of the Affordable Care Act. The university rescinded that decision for this academic year after student and faculty backlash and created a task force to work on the issue.

The task force gave administrators recommendations last month. Graduate students have been waiting to hear how the university would handle health insurance premiums for fall 2016 since then.
