( KTRS ) The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated to the Alton, IL Police Department to investigate the fatal shooting of an eleven year old boy.

Just after 5pm Monday afternoon the Alton Police Department was called to the Alton Acres Housing complex in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the boy and he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say a red car was traveling on Paul Ave, when a shooter fired several rounds from the car at several people standing and walking by the local rec center.
