St. Louis, MO (KTRS) The St. Louis Board of Aldermen is scheduled to vote on the final financing package for a new NFL stadium.
However, the additional $100-million contribution from the NFL, which was included in package the board approved on Tuesday is questionable. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter on Thursday to Governor Jay Nixon Dave Peacock of the stadium task force, stating that the league has no current plans to provide $300 million toward construction of a riverfront stadium.
Goodell further added that the premise that the league has committed $300 million to the stadium proposal “is fundamentally inconsistent with the NFL’s program of stadium financing.”
Meanwhile, Alderman Antonio French is responding to this latest development. In a tweet this morning French said, “The numbers are the same on the city’s end. If other entities don’t put in nearly $1B, the deal is dead. ”
Today’s vote by the St. Louis Board of Aldermen is scheduled for 3 p.m.
