( KTRS ) Lawmakers from the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus are releasing a report about how the state’s budget stalemate is impacting the black population.
Illinois has been operating without a spending plan since July 1, with Democrats who control the Legislature and Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner in a standoff over how to proceed. Democrats want a tax increase and spending cuts to address a multibillion-dollar deficit. Rauner wants laws to make business operations cheaper and curb union power.
Black legislative leaders will release and discuss their report Monday morning. They say areas of concern, due to the budget impasse include funding for early childhood education and violence prevention.
