CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) – Authorities say two Iowa men have drowned in Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks after one of the men began struggling and the other man attempted to save him.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victims as 46-year-old Dennis Michel, of Ankeny, Iowa, and 40-year-old Jacob Seeman, of Woodward, Iowa. The patrol says one of the men suffered from an unspecified medical condition Monday morning after swimming out to recover a pontoon boat that had come adrift from a dock on the Big Niangua Arm of the lake.
The patrol says the other man then swim out to help, and both swimmers went underwater. Neither of the men resurfaced. The patrol says the men were recovered after a brief search and pronounced dead.
