( KTRS ) To bring more awareness to domestic violence, a Illinois Hospital is holding a memorial service for those affected by it.

On October 12th the Alton Memorial Hospital will host it’s 12th Annual special memorial service in the Healing Garden. The event is open to everyone in the community, there will be agencies present with information on their resources and services.

The ‘service program’ began in 2002, since then trained staff confidentially ask patients if they feel safe at home or have experienced mental, physical or sexual abuse at the hands of another.
