( KTRS ) Police are investigating after a 12 yr old was shot in the mouth.

Authorities say the incident happened Sunday evening around 5:15. The circumstances of the shooting are not yet known.

Police were called to the 2600 of Caroline Street in the Gate District, and the boy was taken to the hospital.

He is said to be in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
