ST. LOUIS (AP) — Washington University in St. Louis says it will reach its $2.2 billion fundraising goal two years ahead of schedule, so the Board of Trustees set a new goal — $2.5 billion by June 30th, 2018.
The new goal for the university’s “Leading Together” campaign was announced Friday.
The university says the campaign that began in October 2012 has brought in $2.12 billion as of December 31st. The original goal was to raise $2.2 billion by July 2018.
More than 120,000 alumni, parents and others have supported the campaign.
Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton says the money will help Washington University have a greater impact on the St. Louis community, the nation and the world.
