CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump drew heat in September when he failed to correct a rally-goer who incorrectly labeled President Barack Obama a Muslim.
He took a different approach in Claremont, New Hampshire Tuesday night.
Trump jokingly admonished a man at the rally that yelled the country’s leaders are “Muslims.”
“I have to reprimand him. How dare you?” he saidin jest. “Now the press can’t be angry.”
Trump also used the tactic when someone in the crowd made a comment about Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton being in the bathroom.
Trump criticized the comment as “terrible.”
Trump spoke to voters in a packed high school gymnasium. He is currently leading opinion surveys in the early-voting state.
